Chicken Pox In Adults

Medical science has improved greatly and the result us the eradication of many disease that once caused havoc in the lives of the people. However, there are still some diseases that still cause a lot of trouble in the lives of many people and one of them is Varicella that is popularly known as Chicken Pox. It is also known as Herpes Zoster virus. This disease is common in children who are below 12 years of age. This age is actually safe because the symptoms and the after effects of the disease is very mild and at times even unnoticeable when the infected person is so young.

On the other hand, when the infected person is older the after effects are worse. After the usual symptoms of mild fever and general weakness and tiredness, the other effect that follows is the presence of red rashes that can even spread to the whole body. Usually the rash is more on the back and the chest. One must remember that though the disease is not one that causes deaths there are some rare instances when death was reported.

When the disease affects children, there are chances that the symptoms can go unnoticed due to the mildness of the after effects. However, when adults are affected then matters can get worse. It can also develop into pneumonia. The beat part of the disease is that it is a rare possibility that one person can get affected by the disease twice in a lifetime. This is because once the person if affected he gets immune to the disease. This disease is highly contagious and a person can be infected by the mere presence of an infected person.

The initial symptoms of mild fever and weakness can become visible only after almost 3 weeks of the virus entering the body. This is because in this time the virus if incubating in the body. It is only after the 3 weeks that the symptoms start showing. After that, the next stage is the red rashes that develop into fluid-filled blisters. After 2 - 3 days, the blisters start drying up and then it becomes very itchy. These blisters can also cause skin allergies and infection of the skin. Though this disease is not life taking there are complications involved like shingles.

Shingles is also caused by the same virus and is usually common in people who are above 50 years of age. Also if a pregnant woman is infected then t could help the development of the baby in the womb. In short though it is not a serious and a life taking disease timely cure is necessary to avoid the possible complications. Chicken pox in adults could take a toll on work and movement. This in turn leads to a lot of physical and mental distress that becomes overwhelming for a person to deal with. However, the complete focus should be to regain the strength of the immune system and prevent any kind of injury, self inflicted or otherwise, with regards to the vestibules that aggravate by itching while healing.
